A global food price index can show whether agricultural commodities are becoming more or less expensive across markets. Yet a price index does not explain why prices move, who is most exposed, or whether food systems can absorb future shocks.
Agricultural resilience is the capacity of farms, supply chains, and rural economies to continue functioning under stress and to adapt afterward. To assess it, readers need to place price information beside structural indicators. The available data sources provide several ways to do this without treating any single measure as a complete answer.
